Chautauqua County has received a proposal regarding the total weight that can be supported on rural bridges.

 

Currently, the rural bridges are unable to support 90-ton trailers that would potentially move through the county. Commissioner Parker Massey says that trailers that large usually have important cargo.

 

The county commissioners also approved the Kansas Down Payment Agreement, which is similar to what Montgomery County agreed to earlier this year.

 

Additional items of business at the County Commission meeting were the accepting of a bid to address a transmission failure on a 2009 Motor Grader, as well as the clearance of tree damage at both Cowboy and 22nd, and 26th and Dalton.
