Excessive heat warnings continue today, with a slight break in the heat on the horizon.

 

Warnings go into effect at 11 a.m. for Oklahoma, 1 p.m. for southeast Kansas, and southwest Missouri. Heat advisories are in place for the rest of the four states.

 

Severe storms are possible tomorrow for all of Kansas and western Missouri. According to the Storm Prediction Center, the main threat will be damaging wind gusts and up to quarter-size hail. The best chance for rain and thunderstorms for the Coffeyville area will be late tomorrow night, although thunderstorm chances are possible starting tonight. The heat is expected to subside some on Sunday, with a high around 90 expected for Coffeyville.
