Hottest Day of the Year Possible Today

 

Today could be the hottest day of the summer so far.

 

Excessive heat warnings are in effect for most of southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma plus the extreme western counties in Missouri. Heat index values near 112 are possible today. Warnings start at noon for Kansas and 11 a.m. for Oklahoma and will be in effect until 9 p.m. A high temperature of 103 is expected for Coffeyville with a heat index up to 110 possible. Heat advisories remain in effect for the rest of the four-state area. Yesterday's high in Coffeyville was 103 while Independence made it to 101.
