The public is invited to attend a community discussion about blight and beautification in Independence tonight.

The goal of the event is to gather input from residents and property owners from throughout the community to identify concerns and barriers to beautification as well as solution for alleviating blight. Beautification Committee Member Rev. Charles Barker says this is an issue many communities are facing.

The goal of the discussion tonight is not to condemn anyone, rather, it's about finding solutions. Barker says all are welcome at the event.

Free pizza will also be provided at the event, and no registration is required. The discussion starts at 6 p.m. tonight at the Independence Civic Center.
