Cherryvale Man Leads Deputies on a Chase

A Cherryvale man leads deputies on a chase through Montgomery County and into Labette County before being arrested.

On Monday evening around 5:10pm, a Montgomery County Sheriff's Office patrol sergeant was alerted to a green motorcycle passing vehicles in a no-passing zone traveling east on Highway 160. The sergeant located the motorcycle and attempted to pull over the driver but the motorcycle sped away. The motorcycle continued into Labette County, where the Labette County Sheriff’s Office joined the chase.

The pursuit continued for about twenty minutes, taking deputies on several different gravel and paved roads, running stop signs, crossing the center line and speeding. The driver lost control attempting to make a right turn putting the motorcycle in the ditch and attempted to flee on foot. Montgomery County deputies were able to apprehend the driver, who was identified as 33-year-old Anthony Rush. He has recommended charges of fleeing law enforcement as well as numerous traffic violations.
