Multiple fire departments work together to put out a fire in Montgomery County. 

Firefighters from the Independence Division along with Independence Fire & EMS were dispatched to a structure fire at 3750 County Road 4050.  The first units on the scene found heavy fire coming from the east and south side of the house. Mutual aid was called for from the Sycamore Division and Elk City Rural Fire. Independence Fire sent additional personnel to the scene as well.

There was no one home at the time of the fire, but the home is a total loss and a family dog perished in the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown and the investigation has been turned over to the County Sheriff's Office.  Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson says it is good to see the collaboration between departments and across jurisdictions.  The county has better fire and EMS protection right now than ever before.
