They’ve caused a stir in a lot of places around Kansas this past summer, legions of armyworms attacking home lawns. K-State Crop Entomologist Jeff Whitworth says the worry for winter wheat producers is whether those armyworms will migrate to the wheat fields.
Whitworth says the best way to manage armyworms will be to plant as late as possible. Whitworth says in the meantime, wheat growers should stay alert for armyworm activity in areas where they’ll be planting wheat in the coming weeks.
