Motorists who use U.S. Highway 54 between Yates Center and Eureka will need to give themselves some extra time as the Kansas Department of Transportation expects to begin a resurfacing project. The road work starts at the west K-99 junction and continues east to the city limits of Yates Center.
Project activity includes a mill and overlay. Flaggers and a pilot car will guide one-lane traffic through the work zone; expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The project should be completed by late autumn, weather permitting.
KDOT awarded the construction contract of $4.7 million to Shilling Construction of Manhattan.
