The Labette County commission approved the budget for the upcoming year on a two-to-one vote. Commission Chairman Lonie Addis says he voted no because he didn't agree on the budget with the other two commissioners.

The budget for the county for the upcoming year is $7,691,304. The commission was able to lower the mill levy from 60.924 last year to 54.359 this year, a reduction of 6.565 mills.
