The Independence Fire/EMS has upgraded its Emergency Alert Notification software, allowing residents to receive messages via text, email or voicemail.

The system is intended to be used for emergency alerts, possibly related to hazards that require some form of action such as evacuations, boil water orders, or others. The system will not be used for routine information.
