The Independence City Commission recognized Director of Public Works Mike Passauer on his retirement from the city. Passauer has worked for the city for over 31 years, starting off as a seasonal worker for the street department in 1989.

Due to COVID-19, the city will be hosting a card shower instead of a reception. Cards may be sent or delivered to the City of Independence at 811 W. Laurel.
