The Kansas Department of Transportation has started a resurfacing project on U.S. 69 in Bourbon County. The project begins two miles north of the Bourbon-Crawford county line and continues north for nearly four miles.
Project activity includes concrete patching, placement of a one-inch reflective crack interlayer, and a three-inch asphalt overlay. KDOT awarded the construction contract of $3.5 million to Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc., of Topeka.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane at the work zone. Work on the project should be completed by mid-August, weather permitting. KDOT reminds drivers to obey the signs and traffic control devices and to slow down.
