After months of negotiations, the City of Erie has finalized the purchase of Stub’s Market. The former owners retired and the city was in danger of becoming a food desert. Cindy Garland will be the new manager of the store.
City officials have also announced that the Erie City Public Library was awarded a SPARK Grant to expand their “We Share” program to build a community greenhouse. Library officials will plant vegetables and distribute the harvest and seeds to members of the community. The greenhouse costs $10,000 and is completely paid for by the SPARK grant. Library officials hope to have the greenhouse delivered before the new year.
