Independence could be getting some new and improved sports facilities in the future pending the approval of the Central Park Master Plan.

The plan has amenities such as new youth soccer fields, renovated baseball diamonds, a brand new batting cage, a multi-purpose sports field, more parking, and much more.

The improvements, if approved, will be on North Park Boulevard and East Sycamore Street.

The Independence City Commission meeting will be held Thursday at Memorial Hall at 5:30 p.m.
