Consumer demand for beef is important to the cattle industry and COVID-19 has significantly influenced beef consumption. Kansas State University Livestock Economist Glynn Tonsor says for June beef demand was up 34% from June 2019.

Tonsor says he conducted his own analysis which has more current information.  Tonsor says government aid may have influenced beef demand, with 23% of the people surveyed saying they did increase their consumption.
