A man in Chanute was arrested on charges of burglary and theft.

Chanute Police responded to the area of the 500 block of North Garfield for a report of a car burglary. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle and the owner mentioned they had arrived home and after a few minutes, went out to check their vehicle and noticed several items missing from inside. Witnesses in the area were able to give officers a description of the individual that they reported as being in the vehicle.

Once officers began to canvas the area, they located an individual matching the description on a bicycle in the 700 block of North Santa Fe. After speaking with the individual, officers arrested 24-year old John Michael Bixler for burglary of a vehicle and theft. Bixler had previously been arrested for multiple counts of burglary and thefts in October of last year.
