Much like many other towns and cities across the state, the coronavirus pandemic was the main topic of discussion for the Independence City Commission at its meeting on Thursday. All three members of the commission were in attendance as Director of Safety David Cowan detailed information that could help prevent the spread of the virus in Independence. Cowan said that as of this moment, the city is well-equipped to handle the situation.

Cowan said there are no confirmed cases in Montgomery County, but with tests still pending, that could change. The commission will meet again in two weeks, with the possibility of special meetings as necessities arise.
