Governor Closes All Kansas Schools for Rest of School Year

 

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has announced that all schools, K-12 in the state of Kansas will be closed through the end of the current school year.  The closing of all the state’s schools include private schools.

Kelly said that all school building across the state must be closed for the rest of the current school year for the purpose of general student and staff attendance.  Shoe added that learning will continue for Kansas students.  A 25-member task force comprised of many of the state’s top educators is continuing to develop plans for continuous learning.

 

Essential staff members, as determined by local school district officials will assess and prepare of facilities maintenance.  Whiles schools are closed administrative offices and support facilities may remain open as needed.

 

Once buildings are thoroughly sanitized they will be able to be reopened for small groups of school personnel to implement a plan for continuous learning.
