KDOT Awards Millions in Transportation Alternative Projects

The Kansas Department of Transportation has awarded more than $8 million for 18 projects selected for inclusion in its Transportation Alternatives program for the federal fiscal year of 2021.

32 applications were submitted requesting over $22 million in funds with only 18 projects being selected.

The City of Coffeyville was selected for safe routes to school and rail to trail sidewalk and a shared use path project totaling over $913,000.

KDOT evaluated each application and their selections were based on criteria using inputs from various departments involving safety and network improvements, cost estimates, project readiness, public support and other factors.
