KS Investigating JUUL Business Practices

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced on Tuesday that the state has been investigating JUUL Labs' business practices in connection with the jump in youth vaping.

Schmidt said his office is one of 39 state Attorney's General participating in the joint investigation into JUUL's marketing and sales which includes targeting youth, claims regarding nicotine content and statements regarding risks, safety, and effectiveness as a smoking cessation device.

Schmidt mentioned that he would not characterize the status of the investigation or what the Attorney's General have found to this point.

Data from the National Youth Tobacco Survey conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control found that last year showed more than five million youth reported to have used E-cigarettes within the past 30 days which was up from 3.6 million in 2018.
