The agenda for the first Independence City Commission meeting of 2020 has been set. Among the new business presented for the new-look group will be the reorganization of the commission itself. After new commissioner Dean Hayse and reelected commissioner Louis Ysusi have taken their oaths of office, the commission will decide on a new mayor and vice mayor. The mayor has traditionally been the commissioner whose term was not up for the most recent election, but that tradition does not need to be followed.

Also under the reorganization of the commission is the designation of the official city newspaper and official city depository, and also the approval of the commission meeting schedule for the rest of the year.
