The public is invited to a reception preceding Thursday's Independence City Commission meeting. The reception is being held to honor Gary Hogsett for his service to the commission and welcome Dean Hayse as his replacement. Louis Ysusi will also be welcomed back after winning his reelection.

The reception will run from 5 p.m. to 5:30 in the Gallery on the lower level at Memorial Hall. The City Commission meeting will follow as usually scheduled.
