There is still a couple of weeks left to apply to be a member of the City of Independence's Tree Board. Applications must be received before January 17, either at the City Manager's office at 811 W. Laurel Street or emailed to KellyP@independence.gov.

According to the city website, the purpose of the board is to honor the city's rich history of enjoying and preserving local natural resources. They provide for the public by providing for the development of a community forestry plan, which aims to enhance the beauty of the community.
