A 31-year old Parsons man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday on charges alleging kidnapping and robbery.

Garyl Allen is charged in Labette County District Court with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, possession of cocaine, aggravated battery, criminal possession of a firearm and theft of a firearm.

Last August, Parsons police were called to Mendota Creek Apartments in the early morning hours for a possible hostage situation. When police arrived, Allen allegedly ran to a nearby tree line before complying with an officer’s order to come out. Police found a black semi-automatic pistol in the tree line and a propane torch in the apartment that allegedly was used on the victim. Officers also found cocaine and a stolen handgun in Allen’s car.
