Crime Victims to Receive Support

The Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board awarded financial assistance to 264 victims of violent crime at its December meeting, according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Awards were made in 126 new cases while additional expenses were paid in 138 previously submitted cases. The awards exceeded more than $250,000.

A portion of assessed court costs and fines, inmate wages, parole fees and restitution paid by convicted offenders provide funding to the program.
