Large Crowd Turns Out For Big Boy's Arrival in Coffeyville

The Union Pacific’s historic Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive arrived in Coffeyville Saturday night to crowds in excess of 1,500 people.  Big Boy left Van Buren, Arkansas this morning making several stops in Oklahoma before arriving in Coffeyville to spend the night.  Big Boy is scheduled to depart Coffeyville Sunday morning to make 19 more stops across the state before heading to Colorado.     

 

Big Boy, built in 1941 is the world’s largest steam locomotive engine weighing in at 1.2 million pounds.  The restored Big Boy is on a cross country tour in celebration of the Union Pacific’s 150th anniversary.
