Trial Suspended Again For Sheriff

Once again, the jury trial for former Montgomery County Sheriff Bobby Dierks has been delayed. A jury was to have been selected on Monday, but a "new development" in the case prevented Judge Daniel Creitz from continuing on with the case. No specific details were given about the development.

This is the second time the case has been delayed. An attempted trial in August was declared a mistrial following a courtroom employee sustained head injuries after falling while climbing a flight of stairs.

Dierks was suspended from office back in March, when the Kansas Bureau of Investigation came to the conclusion that he had attempted to interfere with the January 2018 arrest of his then-girlfriend on suspicion of drunken driving.

At this time, no date has been set for the jury trial to reconvene.
