Pitt State ROTC Remebers 9-11

Pittsburg State University’s Military Science Department and ROTC will conduct a remembrance for 9-11 today near Carnie Smith Stadium. Between the stadium and Axe Library, cadets plan on firing the ROTC cannon twice once at 8:46am when the first of the two World Trade Center towers was hit, and once at 9:03am when the second tower was hit. Also beginning at 8:46am, the group will begin doing pushups on the section of track that extends outside of the stadium. They will continue until they have completed 2,977 pushups one for each person killed on Sept. 11, 2001.

The group is under the direction of Captain Bryce Johnson, assistant professor of military science.
