Mercy Clinic To Close

Mercy has started notifying patients that the Mercy Clinic on Barker drive in Oswego will be closing in August because of "declining reimbursement rates, and reduced patient volumes." This comes only a few months after the Oswego Community Hospital and Clinics abruptly closed in February. Labette Health has been working to fill the health care gap for residents, and say since this was made official they've seen an influx of patients at their temporary clinic in Oswego. They plan to accept as many patients as they can, and plan to open another clinic in Chetopa. The Mercy clinic will be closing on August 30th. The nurse practitioner from there will be sent to the clinic in Columbus.

Mercy's statement on the closure:

"Declining reimbursement rates and reduced patient volumes have forced Mercy Clinic to consolidate its family medicine clinic in Oswego, Kansas, with the clinic in nearby Columbus, Kansas. Patients have been notified of this consolidation. The Oswego clinic will close on Aug. 30. Katelyn Hite, an advance practice provider from the Oswego clinic, will join Benjamen H. Williams, MD, and Diana Marshall, PA, at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine Columbus. We regret any inconvenience caused to our patients in Oswego but remain dedicated to providing compassionate care and exceptional service at our Columbus clinic and throughout the Four-State Area."
