The National Weather Service issued a minor flood warning at 3:00 this morning for the Verdigris River at Independence affecting Montgomery and Wilson Counties, and also at Coffeyville affecting Montgomery County. For Independence, it continues until tomorrow/Friday afternoon, for the river at 2:30am this morning was at 37.5 feet in Independence which has a flood stage of 30 feet. However, the good news is the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by early Friday morning. They forecast the river at Independence to be at 29 feet Friday morning, 25.9 feet Saturday morning, and 24.3 feet Sunday morning. The Verdigris at both Coffeyville and Independence continue to recede.
