ICC Player Speaks on Coach Brown Situation

As we await a decision from Independence Community College regarding the situation between Head Football Coach Jason Brown and a German born player, the player Alexandros Alexiou tells KGGF News he came over here to play football.

Alexiou says he thought the Coach Brown he saw on Last Chance U was just an act but quickly found out that wasn't the case. He says after finding out he was getting close to being kicked off the team he looked for an explanation.

Alexiou says for now he is off the team but he does get to keep his scholarship which Coach Brown threatened to take.

Both ICC Athletic Director and President have not returned phone calls or made a comment to us here at KGGF but President Dan Barwick did send a statement to KOAM saying that "Independence Community College does not condone the language Coach Brown used in his message. He has spoken with Coach Brown about his message to the student, and Coach Brown fully understands that his language was not appropriate. The college is investigating the matter and will have no further statement at this time."

**UPDATE 9:50 Friday 2-22-2019**

ICC President Daniel Barwick has released a statement regarding the situation:  "The Independence Community College Board of Trustees has met to discuss the situation and offer their input regarding the recent controversy regarding a football coach’s texts to a student. There are a number of elements the college must consider in this case, and we expect resolution within a few days. Until that time, the college has no further comment on this personnel matter."
