The Cherryvale Police Department and the Coffeyville Police Department receive grants to support public safety programs. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says the grants are part of the Federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Grant Program.

  • Cherryvale Police Department will receive $89,436 to purchase body-worn police cameras.
  • Coffeyville Police Department will receive $62,655 to update its recording systems from analog to digital to enhance audio and video evidence capabilities.

The grants are awarded by the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. General Schmidt, an Independence native, serves as the chair of the council.
