Independence Recycling Changes

Speaking with the Independence Chamber Director Lisa Wilson, she is always encouraging residence of Independence to make the easy choice to recycle. The city itself, makes that easier with a few ways to dispose of those items each month.Wilson says along with every Tuesday you can also drop them on the first Saturday of the month at the sanitation yard. Located at 21st and Maple in Independence. You need to be a resident as she explains along with the plastics they also dispose of paper, aluminum cans and electronics. Wilson says they have partnered with a new company to help them dispose of their plastics. With that, they ask that you separate your plastic bottles according to the number on it. They accept plastic types 1, being the cloudy milk jugs, and type 2 being transparent bottles, even colored ones. If you have any questions contact the chamber at 620-331-1890
