Medical cannabis bill in Kansas for veterans

Three Kansas lawmakers have introduced bills legalizing the use of medical marijuana for pain management and other established health conditions. Sen. Tom Holland (D) along with Reps. Jim Karleskint and Cindy Holscher announced the two bills at a news conference on Thursday. They say the legislation provides a highly controlled yet transparent framework for allowing Kansans safe and legal access to medical cannabis.

According to Rep. Karleskint, who is also a Vietnam Veteran, high rates of PTSD in Veterans have been found who report cannabis treatment reduces anxiety, limits or stops nightmares, and fights insomnia. Rep. Holscher said the legalization of medical cannabis is something Kansans have pushed to have access to, and over 70% of state citizens are in favor.
