The Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board

The Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board recently awarded just over 225,000 dollars to the victims of violent crimes in their January meeting. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt explains the staggering amount of cases they see annually. The Board recently awarded 274 victims just over 225,000 dollars to those in need after violent crimes, in their January meeting. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt explains this program is one he especially likes. Schmidt explains one of the best parts, is no tax dollars go into compensating these victims. The program is funded by a portion of the court costs and fines, inmate wages, parole fees and restitution paid by convicted offenders. Schmidt says unfortunately they see about 2 to 300 cases for this program per month though is glad something like this is in place.
