Members of the Kansas House Of Representatives and Kansas Senate prepare to open the session at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon.  Meanwhile, the 2019 Legislator Briefing Book has been distributed to members.  The briefing contains many of the topics lawmakers will be asked to consider.  Some of the topics include school safety and security, industrial hemp, the Kansas Water Plan Fund, legalization of medical and recreational marijuana, the opioid crisis and a number of corrections issues.  See the complete book here. 

The 48th Governor of Kansas Laura Kelly and Lt. Governor Lynn Rogers will take their oaths of office at 11 am Monday on the south lawn of the Kansas Capitol.  The Inaugural Ball will open at 6 pm at the Kansas Expocentre.
