The Parsons Police and Fire Departments have new radios on the way. The Parsons City Commission approved the purchase of new handled radios for the two departments. Parsons police officers and firefighters currently use a model of radio that's been discontinued and is no longer serviced. Police Chief Robert Spinks says lives depend on the ability to communicate.
The new radios will also be more durable and easier to use. Fire Chief Jay Hawks says they're a rugged built radio. Bigger knob for glove hands such as a firefighter. The waterproof rating is much higher than the had before.
