The Coffeyville Fire Department gets calls to two fires on Saturday. The first occurred around 3:00 Saturday morning and the second around 6:30 that evening. The early morning fire was at 1508 S Willow. Three people were rescued and taken to CRMC, Fire Chief Bob Roesky says one individual died and the other two were sent by helicopter to Tulsa.

The evening fire was at 511 E 5th. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire conditions in approximately 75 percent of the house. With assistance from off duty firefighters and the South Coffeyville Fire Department, the fire was under control in 25 minutes. The owner, Billy Joe Strickland, was transported to CRMC by ambulance for minor injuries. Damage is estimated to be $32,000, and the cause of that fire is currently under investigation.
