Suicide in teens is a number that nationwide as well here statewide continue to grow. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and his office has teamed up with Tower Mental Health on a task force to educate others on the matter. Schmidt says it’s a great way to increase your knowledge or give input on a pressing issue in our state and says the program is open to the public. Schmidt says that task force meets here in our region on August 31st. They will meet in Iola at Allen Community College that Friday from 9am until around noon. He states its open to the public and encourages your attendance to either ad input, or just listen and learn. He also previewed a course set to educate various board members on how the open records act works coming up Friday in Fredonia at the public Library from 1:30 to 4:30.
