A Galena man is jailed after an argument escalates to a shooting. Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves says deputies were dispatched to the rural Galena home after a verbal disagreement led to a woman being shot. During their investigation of the shooting, deputies conducted a search of the residence. 28-year-old Matthew Wilkins was taken into custody on allegations of aggravated battery, criminal threat, and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He was released after posting just over 20-thousand-dollars bond.

The woman was treated and released from a Joplin hospital.
