In the case of a partial pasture burn, managers need to consider that cattle will tend to intensively graze the burned areas over the unburned grass. K-State Pasture Management Specialist Walt Fick says making a contingency grazing plan may be in order.

Fick says patch burn grazing allows you to rotate grazing without a fence but changing the areas you burn each year. He says plans will vary depending on what part of the state you are in and how much of your pasture burns.
