When he came to Caney as the new City Administrator, Fred Gress says he and the elected officials put together some economic development plans. He says one of those was a grocery store.
Gress says the Kansas Health Foundation has earmarked $4.2 million to help bring rural grocery stores back. He says the wrote an application for it and he's just gotten word that they can move on to the next step.
