A rail crossing project on South Walnut/Hwy 169 that has detoured vehicles to Willow is nearly complete, and the highway is expected to open by this weekend. The SKOL railroad removed a rail crossing as part of their reconfiguration of tracks. While the crossing was closed, the City completed a concrete project between the tracks. Thomas Osborn, Engineering Superintendent, reported at the commission meeting that once the highway is opened the road will still be rough until the tracks settle and are even with the concrete. He indicated it normally takes about a month for this to occur.
