Classes will resume for Caney Valley USD 436 today. That despite a boil water advisory. Superintendent Blake Vargas has sent parents a letter detailing today's plan of action. Breakfast and lunch will be prepared using bottled water as necessary. Water fountains have been shut down. He says portable restrooms will be on-site should the community lose water pressure again. Parents may sent water with students this morning, but bottled water should be available by afternoon.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the order yesterday following a loss of pressure in the City of Caney water tower. The city has been dealing with a number of water leaks and spent much of yesterday looking for a leak that drained the tower in 90 minutes Wednesday evening.
