Independence Police Officers take a call at a bank last week as a man was attempting to cash a stolen check. The owner of the checks was arthe bank reporting the checks stolen at the time the man attempted to cash one of the checks. The man gave a fake ID to the officers at the scene, claiming a person he had worked for wrote him the check and he did not know it was
stolen. Officers later found the man at his home. There was a brief struggle before he was arrested. Evidence of illegal activity was seen in plain view during the arrest so the residence was
sealed and guarded pending a search warrant. Officers searched the suspect’s vehicle and residence and recovered stolen property connecting the suspect to at least three burglaries, an attempted
burglary, and a car burglary. Casey D. Cameron was arrested for aggravated endangering of a child, possession of a narcotic or stimulant, possession of a hallucinogenic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, forgery, interference with a law enforcement officer, criminal use of weapons, possession of stolen property, and identity theft.
A second person at the home, Alisha Crawford was also arrested.
